INTO stand-up-for-primary-education 2015 imageParents and Guardians,

with the Budget coming up and the election sometime soon, the INTO (Teachers’ Union) has asked that we ask you to contact the local TDs to ask them to place a greater priority on primary schools.

And so I am asking you to click on this link (www.standupprimary.ie).

There you can easily and quickly “Email your local TDs now.” The emails are already prepared for you; you can send them as they are, or you can change them as you see fit.

Thank you!

Martin Stuart, current INTO Staff Representative at Scoil Talbot

Extra: The demands can be summed up as follows:

  1. reduce class sizes to the E.U. average (the INTO researched this and found “Irish class sizes are the highest in the Eurozone”);
  2. fund primary schools the same as secondary schools (currently secondary schools receive almost exactly twice as much funding per pupil as primary schools)
  3. build a better management structure for primary schools (because of a ban on promotion many programs around the country can’t be delivered for children with special needs, for literacy, for ICT, and more).
