Dear parents and guardians of children in last year’s 6th classes (2020-2021) and the year before’s 6th classes (2019-2020) who were due to be confirmed,      

Great news: Fr Brian Starken & Talbot SNS have dates and times for each class’s very own confirmation ceremony. Here they are:  

2019 to 2020 (two years ago) 6th classes: 

  1. Mr Molloy’s class: Wednesday 15th September, 5:30pm 
  2. Mr Gordon’s class: Wednesday 15th September, 7:30pm 
  3. Mr Coleman’s class: Thursday 16th September, 5:30pm 
  4. Ms Ward’s class: Thursday 16th September, 7:30pm 

2020 to 2021 (last year’s) 6th classes:  

  1. Mr Gordon’s class: Wednesday 29th September, 5:30pm 
  2. Ms McEvoy’s class: Wednesday 29th September, 7:30pm 
  3. Mr Coleman’s class: Thursday 30th September, 5:30pm 
  4. Mr Malone’s class: Thursday 30th September, 7:30pm 

Confirmations will be held in Bawnogue Church. Please arrive about 5 to 10 minutes early; we will guide you to your pre-arranged seats. We expect each ceremony to take about 50 minutes. Your child’s teacher will give you a call at least a week before the confirmation to go over some necessary details. If you have changed phone numbers recently, please advise the school.   

To keep you and everyone safe, everything will be carried out in line with covid-safety guidelines. Everyone is required to wear a mask. Groups will be seated a safe distance from each other. The church is not allowed take more than 50 people and so numbers are limited to 3 per child: this includes the child. The three people could be, for example, the child, a parent, and the sponsor; or it could be, for example, the child and both parents—Fr Brian has said that, because of Covid, a parent can act as sponsor ‘by proxy’, meaning that the sponsor does not have to attend and that their role in that case would be carried out by a nominated parent.   (Note: 2nd September: These sentences are no longer true. It’s now more than that. Please see the news from 2nd September for details!)

Please note, these are the only dates confirmations will be held. This is your child’s opportunity to make their confirmation, unite more closely with Jesus, make a personal commitment to faith in Jesus, feel more closely a part of the Church, and receive strength to live a full, joyful life as a Christian.
