Dear Parents/Guardians of children making their Confirmation,
Your child is busy preparing for their Confirmation. Here’s what’s coming up that involves you. Please put the following dates and times into your diaries.
- Parents Confirmation Talk: Monday, 14th March, 7pm, in Bawnogue Church. This is just for parents, not the children.
- Ceremony of Light: Tuesday, 22nd March, 7pm in Bawnogue Church. Please bring your child’s baptismal candle.
This is an important part of the pre-Confirmation preparation. A key part of the service is when parents hand the lighted Baptismal candle to their child, acknowledging that their child is now ready to become a responsible Christian. At the Ceremony of Light, parents light their child’s Baptismal candle from the Paschal candle and hand it to their child. In doing so, parents promise to help and support their child live out the call of their Confirmation. They are agreeing, together with their child, to keep the light of faith burning in all of their lives.

- Mr Gordon’s Class: 11am, Wednesday 6th April
- Mr Carroll’s Class: 1pm, Wednesday 6th April
- Mr Coleman’s Class: 11am Thursday 7th April
Finally, and importantly, could you please read, fill in, and sign the attached letter from Fr Brian and the Archdiocese of Dublin, and your child sign it too. (This was on the letter sent home: it’s a new thing from the Diocese whereby they want to see parents and children actually sign up.)
