As part of our Seachtain na Gaeilge we had a Seanfhocal an Lae (Irish proverb of the day).
We chose 5 Seanfhocals that are important for the children to know and we encourage the children to build the seanfhocals in to their lives.
Dé Luain:
“Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.”
(A country without a language is a country without a soul.)
Dé Máirt:
“Tús maith, leath na hoibre.”
(A good beginning is half the work.)
Dé Céadaoin:
“Ní neart go cur le chéile.”
(Many hands make light work.)
Déardaoin:
“An rud is annamh is iontach.”
(What is seldom is wonderful.)
De hAoine:
“Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí.”
(Praise youth and they will succeed.)
