Recently a number of our Talbot parents and children have been busy learning more about science and other important areas, to help them and their own children gain knowledge and new skills in the home.
The programme is called Doodle STEAM and was produced by the Childhood Development Initiative – https://www.cdi.ie/programmes/doodle-steam/
“Fostering young children’s curiosity and hands-on learning is hugely important for their future STEAM engagement and parents play a central role as children’s first role models.”
Every Wednesday in the parents room for 8 weeks, a group meets to learn more about science, technology, engineering and other important topics.
We have made homemade play dough using flour and salt, and a homemade stethoscope to listen to our breathing/measure our heart rate!
Thanks to all the participants for being great students themselves! Looking forward to the rest of the course.
Joey Byrne, Talbot Home School Community Liaison Teacher.
