This term all children in Talbot Senior have worked hard on becoming aware of our shield statements which aim to protect our children from bullying. Because of this engagement with Anti-Bullying, a group from our school were invited to the ISPCC official launch of Antibullying Awareness Week today in Dublin. And they did a great job, ably assisting Brian O’Driscoll!

February Assembly
Congratulations to everybody who received awards at the February Assembly. There were awards for Pupil of The Month, Class of the Month, Super Recyclers and Walk On Wednesday. We heard some excellent Reports and Explanations from the pupils also. We heard about the 5th class children’s visit to Xilinx for the Dragons Den project. And we saw all the amazing work that the children have done on Biodiversity, which was displayed around the hall for our Action Day yesterday. Don’t forget that next week we are on midterm. Keep yourselves safe!

Talbot’s Kids Win Silver in Credit Union Quiz for all Clondalkin!!!
Yes, MAJOR congratulations to Tami, Glen, David, and Reece, all in 6th class, who did AMAZING today at the Credit Union General Knowledge Quiz Competition for all of Clondalkin. They represented YOU. And they came 2nd out of all eight primary schools in Clondalkin. Second out of eight! Wow!
They came back very very happy. 🙂

4th Class Vikings!
On the 30th January 4th class pupils from Mr. Byrne, Mr. Gordon and Mr. O’Donnell’s classes took part in a trip to the National History Museum in Dublin city centre.
First we boarded the bus and headed for busy Dublin City Centre. We were visiting the museum in Kildare Street primarily to visit the fantastic Viking Exhibition. Inside we discovered artefacts from the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Medieval Ages. Stone Age tools and burial tombs, Bronze age metal workings and weaponry and Celtic treasures like golden torcs and collars, the Ogham stones, the Ardagh Chalice and the magnificent Tara Brooch were among the treasures we saw. Gold metalwork from the Celtic Iron Age and a huge collection of silver Viking ornaments like weapons, objects, games and jewellery were also on display.
In the Viking area we saw mock villages, weapons, coins, books and many other ancient artefacts. We learned how swords were made and we used our archaeology skills to see the important role peat bogs play in preserving evidence from the past.
Finally, on the way out we passed Dáil Eireann or Leinster House where many of us will be working in a few years! All in all, an enjoyable and educational day was had by everyone.
6th Class Getting Ready For Confirmation…
Yep, Catholics in the three 6th classes have begun preparing for Confirmation.
Firstly their parents had a meeting last Monday, when they were given the schedule of all the preparations for their children’s Confirmation on April 10th.
And this Saturday in Bawnogue Church at the 6pm Mass, the parish of Bawnogue will welcome all the children at a special Commitment Ceremony.
At it the children will be asked questions by the priest:
What do you ask of the Church?
“We ask for the sacrament of Confirmation.”
Why do you wish to be confirmed?
“We wish to be confirmed because we are choosing to be Christians—followers of Jesus.”
“Do you want to grow in faith?”
“We do.”
Are you willing to live according to the Gospel of Jesus?”
“We are.”
Later on at this Saturday’s public Mass, the boys and girls will bring their Commitment Certificates to the Altar. They have been busy thinking what promises they are going to make on their Certificates. Here are some of the many great promises 6th class boys and girls are going to try their best to keep…
One child’s promises:
- I promise to be more grateful and help my parents when they need help.
- I promise to say prayers of thanks rather than asking for things in return.
- I promise to help out in my community by donating money to our church once a month.

- I promise to clean my room every week.
- I promise to say a prayer every week at Sunday.
- I promise I will say “I love you” once a week.
Another child’s promises:
- I promise to help my parents when they need help.
- To pray more every day for two minutes.
- To help anyone in a bad mood.

- I promise to clean up my house at least 5 minutes a day.
- I promise to be good in class.
- I promise to pray every night.

- I promise to be positive in school and in life.
- I promise not to be rude to people.

- I promise to say a prayer at bedtime for my family and friends.
- I promise to donate toys to the school for future classes to enjoy.

Prayers BY US Children This Christmas…
