Córfhéile na Scoileanna, Baile Átha Cliath

This morning our school choir travelled to Tallaght Basketball arena to participate in the Córfhéile na Scoileanna. This was our school’s first time to participate and we are very proud of our excellent choir and our team of teachers: Ms McEvoy, Ms Floyd, Mr Molloy and Mr O’Donnell. A huge thanks to Ms McEvoy and Ms Floyd who have put so much effort into training the choir to sing beautifully. Well done to Mr Molloy and Mr O’Donnell who accompanied the choir on piano and guitar.

The choir received an excellent report from the judges on each of the songs, as follows:

  1. A Million Dreams: Lovely smiles, Very good small group singing, great words. Lovely song. good variation. All fully engaged.
  2. Is Sinne Óg: You are all so good at the words, foclóir soiléir, you are clearly enjoying yourselves.
  3. Somewhere Only we Know: Very good start. Very good singing. Good communication with the audience and you are clearly enjoying your singing and therefore so do we.

An mhaith. Comhgáirdeachas a mhuinteoiri. well done to the super accompanists. Thank You.

What a wonderful report, please take a bow, choir and teachers.

Digital Schools of Excellence LEGO We Do Project

Talbot Senior National School and St Anne’s National School, Ardclough  have formed a digital cluster to work together on developing digital skills through using LEGO WeDo 2.0.  This project is funded by the Department of Education Schools of Excellence Fund. Over the next three years children in Talbot will participate in this project using LEGO and chrome books.

WeDo 2.0 from LEGO Education is a fantastic new learning tool designed to introduce children to robotics, engineering, programming and general STEM teaching through a robot- based learning system. The basic package comes with 280 building elements, a bluetooth Low Energy-based hub which connects to a motor, as well as motion and tilt sensors.

Ms Bradley’s 4th class and Ms Treacy’s 4th class will work with WeDo 2.0 over the next 6 weeks with Mr Carty and Mr Moore. After Easter WeDo 2.0 will commence in Ms Ward’s and Ms Jones’ 4th class.
