Erasmus Plus Vibes Project-Mr Moore 6th Class

Mr Moore’s 6th Class are currently working on an Erasmus+ project called ViBes to do with vlogging in schools. There are 3 schools and 2 universities involved at the moment, some from Trondheim in Norway and Leuven in Belgium. This project has allowed the children from each of the schools to learn about each other through sending and receiving vlogs about where they are from, their school and community.

Mr Moore’s class have set up a new recording studio in their classroom to help with the recording of videos, take a look at the video to see our new setup!

Intercultural Food Fair 2025 – Thursday 27 February

Please see photos below of our recent Food Fair held in our hall.

The event was a huge success, many thanks to all our families who made scones, breads, desserts, and all kinds of wonderful dishes from all over the world!

We value all cultures in our school and today was an opportunity for all families from all backgrounds to showcase some of the foods enjoyed in all our various homes.

Thanks to everyone for making such a great effort.

Joey Byrne, Talbot HSCL.

“Talbot SNS are delighted to announce our Intercultural Week from February 24th – 28th.

We are planning to celebrate all the wonderful backgrounds the families of our pupils come from!

One important event, The Intercultural Food Fair, will take place on Thursday 27th February in our hall, from 9.30am- 12pm.

Parents and guardians are invited to make and bring in foods from around the world, which our children can sample on the day.

Pupils will not be expected to taste anything they do not want to, it will be purely of their own request/wish.

We hope most countries and cultures of our parents and guardians can be represented on the day.

Last year’s food fair was a great event with food, families and cultures from near and far represented!”

Sixth Class Solar System Projects

Over the past couple of weeks Ms. Jones’ Sixth Class have been learning about our Solar System and how it works. We spent lots of time looking at the special relationship between the Earth and the Sun which allows life as we know it to exist on our planet.

As well as this, every student in the class also created their own space-themed project. Some chose to make poster projects, some created Google Slides presentations and some added a recycling element by reusing materials they had at home to make 3D projects. The class put in an enormous amount of work on their projects at home and, it’s safe to say, they all produced stellar work!

Take a look at some examples of our Super Solar System Projects below!

Mr Connolly’s 5th Class Calm Corner

We are excited to announce the launch of our brand-new Calm Corner, a dedicated space within our class designed to promote mindfulness, emotional well-being, and personal reflection for all the children in our class. The Calm Corner is a cosy, inviting area filled with calming colours, soft seating, and mindfulness tools to help us de-stress and relax. Whether  we need a brief moment to gather our thoughts, manage stress, or practice relaxation techniques, the Calm Corner offers a safe and welcoming environment. It’s designed to be a tool that encourages mental health awareness and emotional self-care.

The Calm Corner is open to all students during designated times throughout the day. If you ever feel overwhelmed, anxious, or just need a moment of quiet, you are welcome to visit the corner for some time to relax and regroup.

As a school we are committed to fostering an environment where all students feel supported emotionally and mentally. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this new space and encourage everyone to make use of it whenever needed.

Let’s take care of our minds and hearts as we continue to learn, grow, and thrive together!

Egyptians in Third Class

Here in Miss Finn’s third class, we have been busy learning all bout the Ancient Egyptians! The students explored the fascinating world of Egyptian culture. They got creative, creating their own pyramids from various materials and transforming themselves into Egyptian pharaohs and designing their own sarcophagi. It was a fun and educational experience that brought history to life!

Coming Soon for Parents… What is your vision for Talbot?

Parents / Guardians,

Everyone at Talbot is engaged with developing a new wording for a new “Vision” for Talbot. The Student Council have given lots of ideas, staff too. Very soon we will be looking to get your thoughts and ideas for your own vision. We genuinely really want everyone’s input.

It’s a great thing to do so that everyone focuses on what is most important for the children now and for their future. When it’s ready, the vision will be referred to often so that everyone works towards a shared vision for your children.

Feel free to be thinking about it now!

Don Bosco Art

This week in Mr. O’Donnell’s class we enjoyed learning about Saint Don Bosco. We sang songs about him and created art inspired by the stories we read about him.
