Over the past couple of weeks Ms. Jones’ Sixth Class have been learning about our Solar System and how it works. We spent lots of time looking at the special relationship between the Earth and the Sun which allows life as we know it to exist on our planet.

As well as this, every student in the class also created their own space-themed project. Some chose to make poster projects, some created Google Slides presentations and some added a recycling element by reusing materials they had at home to make 3D projects. The class put in an enormous amount of work on their projects at home and, it’s safe to say, they all produced stellar work!

We are excited to announce the launch of our brand-new Calm Corner, a dedicated space within our class designed to promote mindfulness, emotional well-being, and personal reflection for all the children in our class. The Calm Corner is a cosy, inviting area filled with calming colours, soft seating, and mindfulness tools to help us de-stress and relax. Whether  we need a brief moment to gather our thoughts, manage stress, or practice relaxation techniques, the Calm Corner offers a safe and welcoming environment. It’s designed to be a tool that encourages mental health awareness and emotional self-care.

The Calm Corner is open to all students during designated times throughout the day. If you ever feel overwhelmed, anxious, or just need a moment of quiet, you are welcome to visit the corner for some time to relax and regroup.

As a school we are committed to fostering an environment where all students feel supported emotionally and mentally. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this new space and encourage everyone to make use of it whenever needed.

Parents / Guardians,

Everyone at Talbot is engaged with developing a new wording for a new “Vision” for Talbot. The Student Council have given lots of ideas, staff too. Very soon we will be looking to get your thoughts and ideas for your own vision. We genuinely really want everyone’s input.

It’s a great thing to do so that everyone focuses on what is most important for the children now and for their future. When it’s ready, the vision will be referred to often so that everyone works towards a shared vision for your children.

Feel free to be thinking about it now!

This week in Mr. O’Donnell’s class we enjoyed learning about Saint Don Bosco. We sang songs about him and created art inspired by the stories we read about him.

Confirmation Dates in 2025

1. Tuesday 25th February–an active, day-long, in-school Confirmation retreat for all children making their confirmation.
2. Thursday 27th February at 7.15pm in the Church–the Talk for Parents and Guardians. Probably about 45-60 minutes.
3. Thursday 13th March at 7.15pm–the Ceremony of Light for each child and their parent(s)/guardians(s). In addition, on the night each child will be given the opportunity to make a pledge around drink, around illegal drugs, and about doing something for others. Altogether probably about 45-60 minutes.
4. Thursday 10th April–the Confirmation Ceremony:

• • 11am for Ms McEvoy’s and Mr Moore’s classes
  • 1pm for Ms Bradley’s and Ms Jones’s classes
