Christmas Fair 2019!
Happy Christmas!
Happy Christmas to all the families of Talbot and Bawnogue from all the staff at Talbot!
We wish you and your families a peaceful and joyful Christmas, and a happy and healthy 2020.
Here’s a few quotes to maybe help us prepare our hearts for the 25th…
- “Christmas is about God being born into this world”—Fr Ron Rolheiser
- “Jesus is infinitely close to us, but we cannot “find” unless we too—like the Wise Men—take trouble, and search”—Sister Wendy Beckett
- “The Birth of Jesus brings us the good news that we are loved immensely and uniquely by God”—Pope Francis
- “Jesus brings us a spiritual energy, an energy which helps us not to despair in our struggle, in our hopelessness, in our sadness, for it is an energy that warms and transforms the heart”—Pope Francis
- “Christmas changes everything. No other religion believes that God became a human being. We Christians believe that God became one of us. We Christians believe that we encounter God, not in sacred places, but in other human beings. Because of Christmas, we Christians worship God by loving God in each other.”—Fr Peter McVerry
(More helpful quotes here) And if you’d like to see some prayers by some 6th class children just a few years ago, see here.
Remember, if you wish, Christmas Mass in Bawnogue Church is on at 6pm and 9pm on Christmas Eve, and 10:30am and 12:00 noon on Christmas Day.
We look forward to seeing all the children safe and sound on Monday the 6th of January.
Christmas Shoe Box Art
This is a shared report/news article we wrote as a class on recycling old shoe boxes:
Mr Byrne’s class have been collecting old shoe boxes lately. This is to reuse and recycle old stuff that would have been thrown out.
We used shoe boxes, fabric, tinsel, scissors, glue and various coloured paper. Our aim was to create a mini-winter wonderland using the old boxes. We designed our pieces first, then created them over 3 weeks.
Reusing old stuff can be fun – you should try it yourself sometime!
Mr. Carroll’s Class Making a Fraction Number Line
Mr. Carroll’s 3rd Class have been looking at Fractions this week in Maths. They had 90 seconds to arrange themselves from the smallest to the largest fraction. Here was the result!
