December / Christmas Events 2024 in Talbot SNS

December 2024 was a really busy month in Talbot SNS! From our Christmas Fair to 5th class coding mornings, our choir playing in nearby companies, mass in the Church, to the Christmas carol service for all classes and finally our Christmas Raffle on our last day – it was all so much fun and very festive!

December 8th was our Christmas Fair in the hall for all pupils, with our staff & Parents Association helping out. Pupil saw santa, played games, bought some Christmas goods and nice baked goods!

Next we had 5th class coding morning for our after school coding club. Then we had our 3rd class parents and child arts & craft morning, then our choir (who were rehearsing all month) went off to AMD in Citywest to sing carols for the staff there, and finally our Christmas Carol Service was had on Thursday 19th December. We also had a wonderful church service which Mr Stuart organised so well!

Some lucky prize winners brought home our huge Christmas Hampers – well done to all winners and thanks to all who bought tickets in aid of our Parents Assoication!

We hope all the pupils had a memorable and fun month, we all needed the well deserved break by the 20th December!

We are now in January, feeling refreshed and ready for a new term and new year. Bring on 2025!

Summer Holidays and Calendar for New School Year 2024-2025

We hope you are having a good summer holiday. Here is the calendar for 2024-2025

  • School Reopens on Thursday 29th August 2024 at 9am
  • October Mid-term: Monday 28th October to Friday 1st  November.
  • School reopens Monday 4th November
  • Christmas: School closes Friday 20th December at 12pm.
  • School reopens Monday 6th January 2024
  • February: Closed Monday 3rd February for St Brigid’s Day
  • Midterm: Monday 17th  to Friday 21st February.
  • St. Patrick’s Day: Monday 17th and 18th March
  • Easter: School closes 12pm Friday 11th April.

4th Class – Dancing Dots Project

On June 25th, Mr Coleman’s 4th class presented a dance workshop using motion technology, cameras and ICT. It was a lovely morning of dance, music, technology, prizes and food!

They took part in an art and dance project with SDCC’s art project, Dancing Dots with Anne Cleary and Dennis Connolly, and also Anna Tanvir, Cindy Cummings and Manindir Singh. Each pupil’s movements to music were recorded by special motion sensor technology which was transferred as moving body ‘dots’ on the screen. Sustainable food prepared by Maninder was also on offer to all our guests.

Junior World Kickboxers!

Best wishes to two of our special pupils, Arthur and Robert Dryja in 4th and 5th class, who are travelling to the Junior World Kickboxing Championship in Budapest. 
The event will take place in August in the BOK hall in Budapest.

Colours Celebration 2024

All the children who participated in Colours this year, had a great trip to the Phoenix Park on June 18th. We had lots fun on our Scavenger Hunt and playing at the Pope’s Cross. We even saw squirrels when we were at the playground at Ashtown Castle.

A VERY BIG THANK YOU to all the teachers and SNAs who facilitated our groups this year.
