Scrooge — The Play Written By 6th Class
Some children asked me to put up on this website the play that 6th Class performed yesterday.
I’m so so proud of the class: They wrote the play on Monday and they performed it brilliantly just three days later — everyone in the class organising and acting everything perfectly.
Here’s the play. Read it and enjoy it. Scrooge A Play By and For Sixth Class 2012
Christmas Competition — Talbot’s Got Writers!
Everyone at Talbot wishes you — and your family — a happy, peaceful Christmas. We hope you get to enjoy lots of good times with your friends and family. Remember, too, to welcome Jesus — into this world, and into your life: find time to be still and to listen to what he is saying to you. Try to do this often. He loves you so so much. Ask yourself what does he want from you.
Now, for you this Christmas Talbot is organising a “Talbot’s Got Writers!” competition. Each child in school on the 21st of December was given a page to write on. It’s easy. All you have to do is write a short story.
Maybe have four paragraphs/parts…
(1) The Opening (where, when, who, maybe an opening event)
(2) Introduce A Problem
(3) Maybe Make the Problem Bigger or Longer
(4) Have a Solution (How the Story Ends)(It can be a happy or a sad ending)
That’s it! You can write lots of different stories and enter many times! You can write on any piece of paper you have.
(What can you write about? Well, just think of someone, then think of a problem for that someone… for example: Santa, and maybe someone stole the reindeer!… or for example: A butcher, and there aren’t enough turkeys to sell to everyone… or for example: a Snowman, and the snow is beginning to melt… You think up your own idea and then go and have fun writing your story.)
There’ll be prizes for the best stories. Just bring in your story/stories when you come back to school in January. And maybe, if you ask politely, your teacher will give everyone who enters a small reward 🙂

Talbot’s Got Writers — the winning story…
Congratulations to Jamie Belmont in 6th class who won the first ever “Talbot’s Got Writers” competition, which took place last summer! Jamie wins himself a €20 voucher — just in time for Christmas!
This is his winning story…
“The Evil Baker
Once upon a time there was a baker called Alfred. He was an evil baker who poisoned all his cakes.
When he heard the good Queen of Fourfront wanted one of his cakes he was overjoyed – but he wasn’t sure what to use. Therefore he tried dead bird eggs and rotten chicken, but he thought that wouldn’t work.
After thinking about more recipes he picked his best one: dog puke, bird eggs, and snake guts. “That should do it,” Alfred smiled to himself.
The next day the servants came and took the cake and brought it back to the castle.
When the queen saw the cake she loved it – but when she ate it, she died!
Alfred was the only one in Fourfront who was happy.”
Congratulations to Jamie. And to Britney Maughan for her great story that won 2nd place (and a voucher too). Will you win the Christmas “Talbot’s Got Writers?” competition. If you’re not in, you can’t win!!
