Green Team and Student Council Trip

On Wednesday the Green Team and the Student Council went on a trip into town. We left the school at 11.15 and went to the Natural History Museum first. It was amazing – Anna liked the butterflies best and Reece was very interested in a monkey from Peru as they’re studying Peru in his class.
When we finished there Ms Walsh got a guard to stop the traffic! and we went across the road to Merrion Square Park where we had a picnic and played in the playground. We were very lucky that it stayed dry.
After that we walked to Leinster House where we met with our local TD Derek Keating and got a tour of the Dail. It was very interesting and we saw lots of famous people.

Thanks to the Student Council and the Green Team who worked very hard all year and a special thanks to Josie who came with us to help on the day.

One Book Competition

The reading of our two chosen books has been well under way since Monday! 5th and 6th classes are reading “Arthur Quinn and the World Seprent” by Alan Early. 3rd and 4th classes are reading “Billy The Kid” by Michael Morpurgo.

For our first competition, I want to hear your thoughts on the books so far!  Can you make a prediction or a connection? What great images has the book created in your head?

Good Luck!

Clean up of our Area

Well done to all the children who turned out for our big clean up yesterday after school. Lots of rubbish was collected and the place looks great this morning. We are lucky to have such wonderful children in our area who care about the environment.
Also a big thank you to Mr Gilmartin, Ms Gallagher, Mr Stuart, Mr Ruddy, Sr Catherine and Ms Walsh who came out to help. Mr Ruddy’s ice creams came at just the right time and gave us more energy to carry on! Thank you Mr Ruddy

Our Green Flag for Travel

On Friday we brought home our 4th Green Flag to our school. Emmanuel, Shannon and Graham did a great job in representing the school at the award ceremony. Well done to everyone in the school who worked so hard to get the Green Flag and keep up the good work. Hopefully we will have a ceremony in June to raise the flag and we’ll celebrate!

Trip to Xilinx

Yesterday, the Enrichment club visited Xilinx after school. It was a great trip – we learned all about engineers, microchips and patents. We were brought into a conference room where we had a video conference call with two schools in America – one class in Colorado and one in San Jose. It was so much fun – Annie even danced for them! Thank you so much to Xilinx for making us feel so welcome!

Pottery

Look at the amazing pottery our parents’ class have created! Well done!
